2013 Redbay Stormforce 11 Explorer-X

We have been building high quality boats at our picturesque home in the North East Antrim coast since our foundation in 1977. From our specialised traditional wooden-clinker fishing boats, we have developed into one of the finest manufacturers of fibreglass boats in the U.K. Many of our team are RNLI Crew for the local Redbay Lifeboat station; this is reflected in the experience behind our boats.

Much of the progress of Redbay Boats can be attributed to the Fastfishers range of boats. These have proven to be a very popular buy with both the day fisherman and also as the demanding commercial workboat market. We established a range of GRP fishing boats that extended from 12 to 21 feet. They are still renowned for their sea keeping abilities, build quality, safety, speed and comfort. Our Fastfisher 21 model has been described by expert fishing magazines as "the perfect angling machine".

Redbay boats is an ambitious company, always striving to stay ahead of the market in terms of product quality. As an example of our ability to lead in design development, we began building fibreglass sports boats a number of years ago. We then developed our own revolutionary hull design with the result being that our Stormforce RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) range has been both financially and critically an overwhelming success for our company.

We manufacture RIBs varying in size from 6.1 metres to our prize 11 metre version. Our base in the rugged waters of the north east coast of Northern Ireland is perfect Ribbing territory, allowing our team to test and refine our models on a continual basis, further improving a winning formula.

Redbay Boats has a team of highly skilled, experienced staff whose work in each stage of design, testing, manufacturing, selling and reviewing is of the highest quality available. Almost all of these stages are done right here on the coast base.

Due to continued success of our Stormforce RIBs, it has been necessary to expand our workspace, a new workshop was built which has almost doubled the floorspace of the factory. We have also provided more secure storage of boats around this.

Redbay Boats is above all geared towards satisfying customer needs. Our emphasis on quality whilst striving to meet these customer requirements have ensured that both our client base and our product has prospered each and every year.

Features:

Hullform

The Stormforce 11 is a deep V hull form, which is one of the reasons that this RIB has such fantastic abilities in rough offshore conditions. The Deep-V hull is combined with sprayrails to produce additional lift and improve the hydrodynamics of the hull. The tube is designed to sit firmly in contact with the water surface while at rest; this ensures that the RIB has maximum stability.

One of the major design features is the Hard Nose. This was developed due to several reasons, and has proven itself one of the most successful features on this design after many years in testing. The Hard Nose is primarily a safety feature. When a RIB such as this is driven hard in a large sea state, there is a real risk that detubing could occur. Thus, the nose is designed to offer complete protection to the tubes when operating in these conditions. Furthermore, there are actually two independent tubes on each side of the hull, offering even greater safety.

The other features of the hard nose are mainly from a practicality need. The GRP nose offers a much more suitable platform from which to anchor or moor, without any problems with damaging the tubes. It also offers much more internal space; this was incorporated into a large dry storage locker, and in most models facilitates twin berths.

Propulsion

The RIB can be powered by any propulsion system but is ideally suited to Twin Yamaha Diesel Sterndrive installations.

Fly-bridge Configurations

The Fly-bridge cabin layout is totally customisable to the owner's specific requirements. The entry door can be place to port, straboard or centrally, depending on customer preference.

Inside, a spacious double berth is fitted in the bow section of the RIB with a second one under the fly-brige deck In the main cabin. Aswith all Fly-bridges there are two sets of controls one on the in the pilot house and a second mounted on the on a raised section of the aft deck. All instrumentation and navigation is repeated at the two helm positions. The pilot house can be configure with two or four suspension setas a galley and a toilet/shower compartment.

At the stern is a dedicated engine compartment, with plenty of space for working around a twin installation. On the after end of the vessel the raised engine breathing boxes create a very comfortable external seating positions protected by the security of the one metre high pushpit rails.

Fitout can be completed with Teak & Holly flooring, and many customers specify custom bespoke Red Cherry or oak panelling and furniture. Decks can be finished with either our High Grade Non-Slip surface or Tek-Deck.
